Crohn’s Disease Exclusion Diet – an alternative to exlusive enteral nutritional therapy in children and adolescents with Crohn’s disease?

Running Behind „POPO“ – Impact of Predictors of Poor Outcome for Treatment Stratification in Pediatric Crohn’s Disease

ABSTRACT – Background and Aims: Intensifying therapy for Paediatric Crohn’s Disease (CD) by early use of immunomodulators and biologics has been proposed for cases in which predictors of poor outcome (POPO) were present. We investigated therapy stratifying potential comparing POPO-positive and -negative CD patients from CEDATA-GPGE®, a German-Austrian Registry for Paediatric Inflammatory Bowel disease.  Methods: CD patients …

Early Immunosuppression in Children and Adolescents with Crohn’s Disease

DATA FROM THE CEDATA GPGE REGISTRY To date, failure of the first-line medical management of Crohn’s disease (CD) in children and adolescents has been followed by escalation treatment, with administration of immunomodulators, e.g., azathioprine, or biologics, such as infliximab (1). The most recent revision of the international guideline proposes stratification of the therapy, with selection …

Machine Learning Classification of Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Children Based on a Large Real-World Pediatric Cohort CEDATA-GPGE Registry

Abstract Introduction: The rising incidence of pediatric inflammatory bowel diseases (PIBD) facilitates the need for new methods of improving diagnosis latency, quality of care and documentation. Machine learning models have shown to be applicable to classifying PIBD when using histological data or extensive serology. This study aims to evaluate the performance of algorithms based on promptly …

Incidence trends of pediatric onset inflammatory bowel disease in the years 2000-2009 in Saxony, Germany-first results of the Saxon Pediatric IBD Registry

Abstract Aims: In developed countries, the incidence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) such as Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) is increasing. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the incidence rates and trends over time in the population of children and adolescents in one of the federal states of Germany, in Saxony. Methods: Over the 10-year period …

CED-KQN-Data quality assurance in digital clinical registries

Clinical registries have been proven as a vital tool to further research concerning rare diseases like pediatric onset inflammatory bowel disease (PIBD) as they aggregate a sufficient amount of data for a better understanding of disease phenotypes and timeline and the support of clinical trials.

Lack of Correlation of Mean Corpuscular Volume to White Blood Cell Ratio to Thiopurine Levels

Kandavel et al (1) retrospectively investigated the value of mean corpuscular volume to white blood cell (MCV/WBC) ratio as estimates for 6-TG levels, and further as surrogate marker for thiopurine efficacy in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (PIBD) patients treated with thiopurine in their center. Their analysis was based on 440 PIBD patients with complete blood cell count, …
